FRED is an important opto-mechanical design package for complete analysis of optomechanical compositions in the LED, light, lighting, imaging and laser fields.

With FRED Optical Engineering software, you can simulate the light path through any optomechanical system using ray tracing. Whether your design is imported from CAD or a lens design program, or is constructed from within the package itself; FRED gives engineers a fundamental tool for creating a virtual prototype of optical systems.

Within FRED, optical properties can be given to the objects and surfaces on an extensive scale. This allows FRED to be deployed in many different fields. The ability to calculate both coherent and incoherent light means that FRED can be used to simulate stray light, laser applications, lighting, non-imaging optics, imaging systems, thermal imaging and much, much more!

Photon Engineering excels in the continuous expansion and deepening of FRED and certainly also in customer support by an expert team of salesmen and software technicians. Trainings are organized in the US and in Europe.

Working with FRED

FRED software is available in 3 versions:

• FRED Standard
  Basic version of FRED. Full ray tracing, but without optimization routines.

• FRED Optimum
  The most widely used version of FRED in light and space travel applications. Contains optimization routines.

• FRED-MPC
  The latest version of FRED. Based on video processor cards for 100 times faster raytracing and processing large jobs.
